In what context, what job, what situation? Let them vent, listen to what they have to say, & try to work with them to get to a solution.

Hey i work in a business with people every day..some days its hard because u don't want people yelling at u about things u can't take care of until the boss is around I understand completely...it's easy to just hear what they have to say and fix what u can at that moment...But remember ur taught the customer is always right even though this isn't always true....Be polite and helpful...take deep breaths cause sometimes they try and make it worse then what it already is...just remember that there are times when ur on the opposite side of the counter how would u like that person to treat u..its a good way for u to understand on how to deal with them even when ur frustrated be calm take deep breaths patience and be polite even smile if u have to

i'd say that i'd handle a confusing/impolite customer precisely like I handle the different customer - with cheery professionalism as a manner to no longer amplify the situation. If the habit strikes previous being purely obnoxious into being threatening or belligerant then i'd persist with business enterprise strategies and my own stable experience to come back to a determination the difficulty without postpone and with as little disturbance as attainable.

Listen carefully. Repeat back to them their main issue, and say, in preface, I want to make sure I understand completely what you are telling me. Did I understand correctly that . . .

Maintain a serious but calm, businesslike manner. Do not attempt to discuss solutions until the problem has been completely stated, and you have confirmed what the problem is, as it will appear like interrupting.

Hand them a mirror and ask them what events in their lives led them to becoming the rude individual that stands before you.

But seriously...

Control the conversation

Ask questions

Ask for the opportunity to explain your side

Explain your side

Take responsibility if you made a mistake

Ask them what would make them happy

Tell them whether you are willing to accomodate them, or if you cannot reasonably do what they ask.
