I know you have to wait until baby's first b'day, but how do you start offering the milk? I thought *may be* I can give her some milk at breakfast instead of formula (which is what she currently drinks) And see if she has some reaction, and if she doesn't then give her some more the next day, etc... Is this a good method?
Thank you!

Sounds perfect. We had to give our daughter milk during the blizzard we just had, because she was out of formula. She never noticed a difference. She drank it fine. So I'm guessing you can just give it to her. But your plan sounds like it would work even better.

That is a good method. Offer it in a sippy cup though and only give her whole milk until the age of2. She needs the fat in whole milk for proper brain development. By the end of the first week she should not be drinking formula during the day. only give it to her at night if she has to have it. She really needs the milk, not the formula after she turns one. Same with the bottle.

Hi i introduced my son to cows milk at about the age of 9 months what i did was put a little bit of milk in a bottle and then added the same amount of water to the milk try it once a day intill the stomach is use to it and when you feel satisfied that they can handel it then give more a day and slowly take the water out. Also milo added to the milk at the age of about 10 months is good. Also it is good to make sure that your baby is still having formula/breast milk as it provides the daily nutrients that cows milk doesnt.

Start with small amounts of yogurt, cheese and homogenized milk.Do the same thing you did when you first started your baby on rice and first foods to watch for allergies. After 2 years of age you can give your baby 2% or 1% milk but for now they need the fat.

I started by mixing formula with milk and changing the persentage of formula vs. milk daily until he was getting only milk. However, we only use soy and rice milk products because my son can;t handle cows milk.

I started at 9 months. Here is the guide that my pediatrician gave us to follow:

Week one: 1oz whole milk with 1 oz water once daily
Week two: 2oz whole milk with 2 oz water once daily
Week three: 3oz whole milk with 1oz water once daily
Week four: 4oz whole milk once daily
Week five: 4oz whole milk, twice daily

That is as far as we have gotten. In the following weeks the milk kept increasing. The doc said to subtract formula from the daily total when you add milk. Mine was on 24oz formula per day. She now gets 8oz milk and 16oz formula. she drinks 4oz milk with her snack and 4oz with dinner. she gets 8oz formula in the morning and 8oz at bedtime.
My ped said NOT to mix the milk and formula. she said to give it separate from the formula and watch for any reaction. I give her all her milk, juice, and water from sippy cups. the only thing we get from a bottle is formula.
good luck.......

Well what we did was just switch over babies usually adjust well to the transfer but if they do not take it right away try warming up the milk a little and put a little baby cerel in it. It usually works for all the babies in our family.

I gave my daughter milk after her first birthday. Never mixed it with formula or water. She loves it. I still gave her formula too.

I just gave it to my son. He loves it!

Good luck

I was also told you could mix half formula and half milk! Never tried it though
