I've been looking for a silent desktop PC, and after much searching found the Shuttle XPC G5 1100. Is this really the best option out there? Thanks

I have a Shuttle XPC G2. I've been using it for a little over 3 years now and it for the most part is a good computer. To a good degree, you are paying extra for the small size, often referred to as a small footprint. It is very quiet largely due to how it cools the CPU. Most PC's use fans to cool the interior of the computer. There is a main fan, a fan for the power supply and another for the CPU. Shuttle does not use a conventional fan for the CPU; instead, they use pipes to transfer the heat from the CPU to the outside while exchanging it with cooler air. This makes for a quiet PC. It is virtually silent. There is a slight hum. After 3 years, the main fan makes a whiny noise at high speeds. That's the only thing I have to complain about. There are other small factor computers, such as Fragbox. Unfortunately, they also have overheating problems. Be aware, there is very little room to upgrade.
