To do this on Windows XP:

Go to start then click on control panel.

Next, find MOUSE and click on it.

Then, click on the upper tab which says POINTERS.

Use the drop-down arrow to select the scheme you want.

Click APPLY, and now your pointer should have changed.

Go to your start menu and open the control panel and you are probable in pick a category so to the left you will see switch to classic view, click on that. Next find the mouse icon and click on it to open it up and then click on the pointers tab and then browse and there you go. Hope this helps you.
