No always. The reason that the naked body is often used as a model for drawing is because there are so many intricate details on the body that are extremely difficult to recreate any other way. Drawing a nude that looks realistic is a sign of great artistic skill. Developing artists draw nudes to hone their skills and to learn how to pay close attention to details.

Well, I had different classes that used models. One used nude models, the other used a model in a swimsuit. In addition, student would occasionally hold a pose, but were dressed. What I hope for is someone with a simple hair style, who is able to hold still for fifteen to twenty minutes at a time. Holding a pose is the main thing. Ask if you have to stare at a specific spot or not. Eyes can be very tricky to get right. It is worse when the models keeps looking around the classroom. There are a couple types of sessions. In one, the model has very short poses (15-20 seconds) just for gesture sketches. Another one is a staged session, where the model may be sitting at a table in front of a mirror or sitting in a chair holding a book. These are longer, and involve more detailed work over several classes. Most classes have something in the middle, with 15-20 minute long poses followed by a minute of movement to restore circulation and another long pose. Breaks are taken every so often.
