No, she was supposed to Meredith. She was a lost little girl looking for her mother. In the hospital her mother finally finds her.
Meredith is that lost little girl looking for her mother but her mother is fading away, Alzhiemers, and she is disapearing, complacency. She was raised to be special but she has kept silent all these months and gone with the flow, settled for happiness, never strived for excellence. That is what Ellis was upset with her about. It is what Meredtih realized was true. She is an underachiever. She is losing herself and wants to be found and the only person who knows who she is is her mother.
BTW, the ferry boat is Meredith too, lost in a fog, run a ground, and loved by Derek for its beauty.
Thought I would give you the bonus plan there.
BTW, go back to the carousel scene when Richard said good bye to Ellis and see if that is not the same little girl who played Meredith on the merry go round.

I am totally addicted to Grey's Anatomy. My best friend IS Meredith Grey! She dated a hot dr last year and then found out he was married. Now she doinks everyone she meets and just last week got a job that makes her travel so she can stop! She even looks like Meredith! What the hell is GAY'S Anatomy

She was just a little girl who had been separated from her mother. I wouldn't say she was an angel or ghost. She's more of a metaphor for Meredith. Meredith is lost and alone. She has been separated from her mother (mentally and emotionally rather than physically). There are a lot of parallels if you think about it! :)

According to the blog by the maker of Grey's..chandra...the little girl with blonde hair IS supposed to remind you of Meredith - dark and mysterious - so yes, in a way, its suppoed to be her angel....

well she was asking meredith to help her find her mom and then in the end she helped shepherd find meredith after she had basically drowned.

no . she was just a kid that was lost. her mom had been hurt or something . it was nothing more then that. however in the future if she is seen again it will be because the doc adopts the kid
