Always go for humor. Life is supposed to be enjoyed, because it is quite short indeed less than 150 years. It is misguided to spend life grieving in pain or wrestling with absurd philosophical questions such as whether God exists or not. No need to waste the short life-span in a mad rat-race after material things or recoiling in fear of condemnation if you dont chase spiritual things. Life's precious gift is humor. Laugh and make merry. Smile, do not worry about life's own wicked absurdities. Laugh at them. Laugh with life on life's own door-steps.
Enjoy the humor in this kind of poem:

Furball

Algernon the pampered cat
Surveyed the world from where he sat
Did not approve of what he saw
Through the curtains of the door.

Another of the feline race
Was scampering about the place
Chasing something unbeknown
Algernon could only groan.

Why all this waste of energy
Just relax and be like me
Curled up in this comfy chair
Food-a-plenty over there.

I hardly need to walk at all
Until I get that nature call
With that he felt the urge to stroll
Across the room to find his bowl.

Through his bleary eyes he spied
The cat had come in from outside
Of this he strongly disapproved
But being fat he hardly moved.

He wanted so to screech a warning
Always difficult when yawning
So he drifted back to sleep
The dinner bowl the cat could keep.

He knew that there would be more later
That soft and juicy cat inflator.

So there's the warning in this ditty
Don't overfeed that little kitty
Before too long and all too soon
You end up with a fur balloon.

Good luck.
