I have no evidence but in short yes it is possible and it kinda has been done. I don't know which country but some Asian scientist had developed a "sheet" that imitated on the they face that you could see what the background would have looke dlike if there were no "sheet" there ( I saw a picture a somone holding it up and their head was visable about the sheet which wasn't a perfect copy of the background but was still very impressive) This was several years ago so who knows what they have done with it sense. Such a technology would be a perfect military weapon so its possibly used often but classified like the stealth bomber used to be or the stealth fighter is now.

Star Trek is a science fiction series, with the emphasis on FICTION. Some of the technology shown is current: electric lights, cell phones, and reliable birth control, for example. But warp drive, tractor beams, transporters, and cloaking devices are beyond conception with current scientific knowledge.
Oddly enough, an invisibility suit like the one worn by the Predator is now conceivable, using lcd and ccd technology. Don't hold your breath--it will be a while--but it could happen.

Well, the next generation of Star Trek ships better begin hauling water to space because NASA has spent countless billions $ looking for water all over the universe when all they had to do was haul it to the 169 moons in our Solar System. Why no one has figured this out is beyond me. Water and CO2 are the 2 main byproducts of combustion and aerobic respiration. Combustion: Propane C3H8 + 5 O2 --> 3 CO2 + 4 H2O Aerobic Respiration: C6H12O6 + oxygen --> 6 CO2 + 6 H2O + energy I hope they incorporate superconducting technology into the new generation of spacecraft. Perhaps the Meissner Effect could be used to generate gravity, like a spinning outer shell.

More possible than making a "Data", I would think.
Star Wars robots are a little more believable than Star Trek's Data. To envisage a robot that looks human and has superhuman powers, but only lacks human emotions, is beyond the fringe.
If you have just a figment of knowledge about the anatomy of life, and all the processes that go on to feed the organism, power the organism, clean the organism, keep its temperature constant, and heal the organism, it is obvious we are thousands of years from creating a Data (but don't they say he was created in the future?).
I love the movie Alien, but they have an android in that who looks and behaves just like a human, yet the producers/writers did not have the forethought to have the computers and displays moving at faster rates than we saw in the 1970s. We are already light years ahead of the computers in Alien.

I think I remember either Top Gear, or The Gadget Show, here in the UK, doing something about this. It wasn't cloaking exactly, but they managed to make a car "vanish" in a forest, by using a series of mirrors and cameras mounted on the car. Even so, you could see a rippling effect as the car moved through the trees, but, since cloaking is fictional, it was pretty close! They used mirrors to reflect the light, and the cameras to play images of the surrounding trees, to make it look like nothing was there.

There was an interesting show on the History Channel called Star Trek Tech that covered this and other topics. It is a theoretical possibility that might exist someday. For now, all we have is stealth technology.

That technology from Star Trek or Predator does not exist on earth today, but particle/quantum physics is the science that will perhaps one day enable cloaking of one form or another to be developed.

Odds are the CIA or USAF is experimenting with the idea, probably at the groom lake AFB(Area 51), although I could see it operating like the active camofauge on James Bond's Aston Martin Vanquish from Die Another Day

A cloaking devise like this may be possible in the future.
It would sure wake any enemy up,they might even crash into each other.
