They would plant the people upto there necks like you would a garden and then they would make sausage and steaks out of them and serve them to thier unknowing patrons. Motel Hell from 1980. It starred Rory Calhoun and Nancy Parsons as the Smiths who buried people in their garden and fed them and made fritters out of them. I remember they would cover their heads with a bucket and they had taken out their vocal chords so they couldn't scream.

"It takes all kinds of critters...to make Farmer Vincents fritters"

It also had John Ratzenberger who played Cliff on Cheers and Wolfman Jack as the Reverend.

The motel was named Motel Hello, but the "o" flickered on and off and it read Motel Hell most of the time.

I remember seeing this when it first came out. It had a dark comedy feel to it.

There is supposed to be a remake that is scheduled for this year, but there are no cast listed anywhere related to a remake.

Red Wolf Inn and Terror House are NOT 'Motel Hell' but simular. I believe the one you're looking for is the actual semi-cult film 'Motel Hell' which is exactly as you've described. The remake will be out sometime this year...lol
