I'm putting together a website which is a hotel directory, but only hotels which have disabled access.

If you were searching for a hotel, what would you most like to see on a directory to make it stand out and if you know anyone who is disabled, what features would you like it to feature which would be good for them?

This will be a free service for everyone

This is a good idea - I think a lot of seniors, not necessarily disabled, would be interested as well.

Anyway, it's great to see a picture of the hotel, be able to open a map of the area, know whether there's an elevator, are ground floor rooms available, are bathrooms wheelchair accessible, equipped with safety bars, can such rooms be requested at the time of reservation?

Also, a place for people to comment on their experiences with various hotels, chains.

Call buttons in the bathrooms, and by the bed, rails for support, furniture that would support their weight and won't topple if the weight is distributed improperly, those bath-tubs with doors for easy entry, a nice view, and if possible, since there are different types of disabilities, maybe brail on the walls? And different rooms for different disabilities. Did that help any? I used to work for a disability center that housed sailors, marines, etc when they came back injured, so I know they would have liked to have those adjustments if they had a choice. Good luck & it really is a great idea.

you probably need to emphasis in your website that there are a lot of parking spaces. It is also important to show that entrances are not to narrow and there is enough space to pass or be present at.
Therefore, few words in your directory about such things whether small or big would be worth mentioning.
it would also be a good idea to use symbols instead of words, because it would make the search easier.

That's great..all hotels in Maryland are wheel chair accessible by law. We had a state consensus on this matter some years ago.
