Try moving to the outer cities such as irving, plano, garland, etc too many to name. LOL @ the person about the hispanics if u think there are alot here go west and u would think you were in mexico if thats bothering u that much, and for the people who say it sucks, its what you make of it the fun is in you not the city.

If you are young and single, then the uptown area is loaded with apt options from less expensive to very extravagant, but it's a fun, active part of town for singles... lots of shopping, dining, etc. and it's right off I-75 and directly north of the downtown region. The closer you get to the Tollway on the west the more sketchy the neighborhoods become. There are some nice places on the East side of I-75 but the crime on that side is more prominent. There is a place called Cityville on Fitzhugh that is right to the east of I-75 and has more reasonable prices and seemed safe and was very nice.

There are areas to the north that are more suburb like that are good areas:
Addison, Frisco, Legacy of Plano, Allen, Garland, Rockwall (which is a little further out) depending on where you'll be working, etc and if you have a family or not.

I lived in FW for 2 years & loved the area! The nightlife is a little more laid back, but still fun. If you like Texas country music, you will definately like FW! The Sundance Square is the downtown nightlife for FW. You can park & barhop from there. It is lots of fun! I am a laid back, have a beer or two kind of girl, so it was perfect for me! There are some nice restaraunts & a comedy club downtown too. I lived near Keller, which is about 10-15 min. from Sundance Sq. By the way the traffic is bad & getting worse! I would not recommend commuting from Dallas to FW. Gas is outrageous & it could take you about 1-2 hrs., depending on where your'e commuting from! Good luck with your move!

live in the suburbs play in the city. if you are looking for something affordable, try plano, carrollton, north dallas. That area is pretty much the center of the metroplex. Not too far from either one of the airports and many freeways around. uptown is nice but very expensive especially since it's been booming lately.

Dallas sucks, and I wouldn't do it if I were you, I have lived here for a while and it is too hot in the summer, people are narrowminded, and there isn't much to do.

But if you have to, then I would say around Addison, that way you will have access to nightlife, otherwise you will be stuck drunk driving or paying for cabs.

Good luck!

Dallas is very spread out . and most any part of town has good and bad areas close> I assume you are going to work there and traffic probably would be my first concern. How far to drive and can I use surface streets, then I'd ask my employer about areas nearby?

I'd say none at this point. I used to live there. Extremely hot for about 9 months out of the year, 100 degrees or more. Rapid influx of Mexicans and people relocating there from other parts of the US. Extremely crowded city.

I used to live in Dallas and I recommend the Highland Park area.

Nice place.

(PS for the poster above me, at least she isn't talking about moving to San Antonio.)

Try Plano, Richardson, or McKinney, nice areas around there and traffic is not as bad as some.
