Yes, 'yaoi' is the term for gay male love in manga or anime (Japanese animated media, be it TV, film, or, usually, comic books). It's quite popular amongst straight women and straight teen girls, oddly enough (it's primarly created by women, and almost completely marketed at women, not at gay men). It's usually not very explicit (there is male/male explicit sex in animated Japanese porn called 'hentai', though, of course), but can feature sex. 'Shonen ai' is a softer version of yaoi, more focused on the love between boys. Usually the characters are very feminine and beautiful, often bordering on looking like women. There are huge yaoi fansites and many people love the genre.

I hate to say it, but I know what it is. It is a degree of boy on boy styled anime that is usually in the hentai catagory. Meaning it is of a sexual and possibly explicit nature.
