Some are better than others I guess. I guess the best thing to do is just ask yourself what you really know about the person, and if the accusations that were made really fit that person. If it doesn't, then there is your answer.

because they're facing being hurt TWICE by doing that: once to themselves by admitting a possible weakness in their psyche by sharing a conviction, and then again possibly by the person they are saying it to.
It's the arguement of "I'm saying what you want to hear, only because I don't want you to get hurt".
