after reading my emails I always go to this site - some of the questions are silly but some are really good.
With regards to the nursery rhyme - this is political correctness gone mad! It's like banning the kids from making mothers day cards in case it offends or upsets those without mothers!
Whatever next!??

A friend of mine works at a nursery and they can only sing baa baa black sheep, if they sing baa baa white sheep straight after. The worlds going mad.
I come on here sometimes cause I'm bored, but also I'm interested in what people are asking and the different answers.

This question has been asked here before and the answer is the same no it is not acceptable. Sheep are black (some of them) and it has .... all to do with racism and singing of rainbow sheep is nonesensical. If Possible suggest you Ostracise the School/nursery concerned. try and get a petition against this crass ruling from the authorities going among the parents. Write to your MP complaining of the waste of time and money on such things.
I know it is wrong.

i suppose it could be that you are instilling in small kids that a black sheep is bad luck or trouble, I can't see why a black person though would be insulted..I am white and if it were baa baa white sheep it wouldn't bother me...White is always portrayed as good though and black bad but that comes from the dark side and not the colour of someone. We still use the expression that someone is the black sheep in a family......Does it really bother black people...I dont think so.....

I come on this site for enjoyment, never to get rid of boredom. Boredom is a sign of someone with a poor imagination.
Being banned for the nursery rhyme is political correctness at its silliest. Your daughter has no concept of racism at that age, and neither would the other kids she is with. Complain.
