okay calm down! hopefully you have all the songs saved on iTunes. anyway try putting it in both usb ports instead of just trying one! anyway if iTunes still doesnt recognize it then hold down the middle/OK buttong and the back/ ^ button at the same time for about 10 sec. when itunes finally recognizes then its fine! if the songs are playing and your ipod still is messed up then goto itunes and plug in your ipod goto ipod summary then click restore! hope this helps!

you want to also be sure that you have the latest version of itunes along with charge battery full and then hhold down the menu and select button (middle button) and this should fix the problem if the reset didnt work try to uninstall itunes and reinstall it

make sure it's charged, use the ac adapter, plug it in for 5-10 min. THEN try holding down menu and the center button to restart it because it might not have enough power to restart otherwise.

Unplug it from the computer and hold down the menu button and the center button at the same time. This resets them and it may or may not work.

You may need to charge it. It is probably best for you to visit the apple website. My old I-pod just broke and I got a new one for Christmas. I faced simular problems, but these were resolved when I charged it.
Good luck!
