I've read some articles where they tell you not to give water to a baby if breastfeeding...it's not necessary. If you're formula feeding, I read that maybe a little water, but to double check with the Dr. I have the same concern with my baby, although I have noticed that she pees all the time and the color of the pee is light yellow. But, to be sure, and not wonder who's right or wrong here, call the pediatrician.

you are able to furnish water once you initiate solids round 6 months. basically placed a pair oz in a sippy or straw cup, or help them drink from a commonplace cup. It grow to be actual round that age that my youngsters needed each and everything I had, so i'd enable them have a sip of water from my cup each and each and every time i ended to take a drink. you are able to furnish juice at 6 months to boot, yet there is not any nutritional want for it, and also you need to water it down. At our domicile, we drink juice with breakfast (my husband and that i do, too), so the children also get a small cup of juice mutually -- no more beneficial than 4oz. My older 2 did not get any juice till they were a three hundred and sixty 5 days previous; my youngest possibly were given some starting up at 9-10 months because that is basically what occurs with the 0.33 one. ;-) as long as you're breastfeeding a minimum of four situations an afternoon, there is not any want to furnish the different type of milk, even after a three hundred and sixty 5 days of age. Cow's milk shouldn't replace formula or breastmilk in the previous a three hundred and sixty 5 days, yet they could style it or have it in different meals. My youngsters nursed previous a three hundred and sixty 5 days, yet i'd nonetheless furnish cow's milk with lunch or dinner like some thing else people were ingesting. solid success including your new infant!

at 2 1/2 months, I wouldn't give a lot of water... maybe just to suck some off a spoon or something... any more than that and you'll mess with her feeding and sleeping schedule.. and I know you don't want to do that!! Sippy cups are great for introducing water. I always drank bottled water when my kids were little. They always wanted to drink out of my bottle (instead of their own), so I'd give them a sip here and there... When they graduated to sippy cups and solid food, they'd get mostly water in the cup.

Is she a 2 1/2 month old or a 2 1/2 year old? Either way you could've started giving her water when she was in the hospital. Water is healthy, we need it and so do babies. You can give her as much as she wants. Just make sure to watch her becuase it is thinner than formula they will chug it and choke. Just give her a few sips, take it out, let her swallow, and then give it back. Burping still applies!! haha

From birth your baby should be drinking water, i have a 4 yr and 1 yr old and they both did, as long as it is cooled boiled water you should give them it regularly as milk to them is a food and they still need a drink, good luck

we have been giving mine water since she was 5 weeks. We had to give her a solutab medication that needed water. She fine and LOVES plain water to this day (she is 10 months). I know a lot of people say not to give babies water, but as long as it is not interfering with their formula intake, a little bit won't hurt.

According to current research studies, doctors now recommend not to give babies water, that formula or breastmilk is enough. My mother and grandmother were both advised by their doctors to give their babies bottles of water (which may have needed to be sweetened with a little sugar)...but this is now believed not to be necessary. So, eventhough your baby doesn't need the water, I don't think it will hurt her.

There's no reason for her to be drinking water. It has no nutritional value and it may make her feel full when she's not...not healthy. I would wait till she is 5-6 months old, and then give her juice with water. Until then, stick to formula and/or breastmilk.

I have been giving my 8 week old water since a few weeks but only because she gets hiccups like crazy...and that seems to help. I don't give her water as a way to keep her hunger down..that's never a good idea.
