The number 1 spark plug on a 350 Chevy is the front plug on the drivers side. The number 2 plug is the front plug on the passenger side. Back to the drivers side for plug 3 etc. If you have the distributor cap that has two wiring harnesses going to it and the coil on top, the #1 plug should be the first wire on the left of the cap plug that is unless someone has changed the wires and reset the time.
The firing order is 1, 8, 4, 3, 6, 5, 7, 2. clockwise around the distributor cap looking down from the top.
This firing order is common on GM and Chrysler engines. Ford numbers their cylinders different in addition they have a different firing order.
