They guy at the pet store told me it was a pacu, and I'm no moron, so I looked at it and it looks like a pacu, except recently I was able to look inside its mouth and I saw two TRIANGULAR teeth, not flat teeth like people say they're supposed to have... it hasn't attacked any of the other fish, but maybe that's just because they're bigger that it is. I'm stumped. It really looks like a Pacu, and it DOESN'T have an undebite, like piranhas do, but I see TRIANGULAR teeth!!!

when pacus are small, they have diamond shaped teeth, in the wild they grind them down on nuts and small shell fish, also piranhs are illegal to own in california, so people are really careful when shipping the differnt fish to the pet stores. Also piranahs have a more diamond shaped body and tail. i have a pacu also and when he was small he looked the same as a piranah

also pirranahs are not as aggressive as peopel say, only in feeding frenzys and when in large schools, when isolated they aren't very aggressive

Joe is right. Odds are very good you just have a quite young pacu.
