here in the states, gettin on a bike is as easy as throwin a leg over. the endorsement test i thought was too easy, and easily passed on a 1200 sportster. if i were to vacation in england, would my lic. be valid enough to rent my bike over there? what's the bike standards for the uk? have the full endorsement over a year here. the states do have a training course, and unless u are under 18, anyone can hop on a bike of any size as long as they pass the permit test without having to pass the msf course. rice rockets isnt my thing. i prefer cruisers only with either a sportster or dyna wide glide type of look. i'd be lookin to ride engine sizes from 1200cc-1600cc...cruisers only. no sport bikes.

As a visitor to the UK from any country you are entitled to use your licence for cars / bikes for 12 months from day you enter the country.

You will have the same entitilement that you have in your own country.

You will need to put some effort into researching which companies can provide you with a suitable machine as there are relatively few motorcycle hire shops & they can be quite expensive (£70 - £90+) per day.

Also Harley hire is very rare, the market is mostly 1 day hire for harleys for weddings & gift ideas! You would probably find it easier to hire a big BMW or Japanese touring bike as that seems to be what the market wants in the UK.

I hope you thoroughly enjoy riding in the UK, and beg you to consider a slightly lighter bike with better cornering, there are alot of corners in the UK which can be wasted on a larger capacity motorbike. Perhaps a big single cylinder bike, 650-750cc. Offer plenty of torque and more fun on the British roads without being too comitted like the "rice rockets"

Hi there

It's tougher to get a motorcycle licence over here but the general standards many times is very poor

That said there are some good drivers and riders here

Regards your US licence I do believe that we operate reciprocal aggreement regards driving in your country and you driving in ours on your country of residence licence

Good luck with your trip and I'm with you give me the Harley anyday. Waiting for a new Screamin Eagle Ultra to be delivered. Promised for 1st June
