good TV deserves every penny of licence payers money ,and that was fantastic TV,if they did things like that more often i wouldn't be-grudge paying it,hip -hip to Clarkson and co

Cost is irrelevant from the point of view of us licence payers. Top Gear as a franchise is sold throughout the world, and as such recoups its production costs many times over. It actually makes money for the BBC and therefore subsidises other programming and helps to keep the licence fee lower than it would otherwise be.

They only need a small budget.
Car company's fall over themselve's to get on that show and give them anything they want.
They have enormous power.
So the small budget they do give them selves can go on doing cool stuff, like blowing up stuff.

most of the budget goes on insurance. im not a great car fan but that show has the best post / production of any show ive ever seen!, plus that air field is great fun to drive around.

Yeah it was, maybe they could put Jeremy in the drivers seat next time.
And I think I may just go get myself one of those mercedes convertibles, arent they just fab.

I don't know what their budget would be, but that can't have been cheap to do that. Who cares though, it made great TV.
