I know how you hiccup but how can babies in the womb hiccup with no air?

Hiccups are spasms in the diaphram, so I suppose they could.

babies still swollow amniotic fluid in the womb and can get hiccups. My daughter had hiccups 3 times a day when I was pregnant.

Unborn babies "practice" breathing the amniotic fluid. And, yes, they do have the hiccups frequently.

the baby gets the air from the mother. that's what the umbilical cord is for. so when the mother eats, drinks, or (heaven forbid) smokes....it all gets to the baby through the umbilical cord.
