I got my hamster Tomo from some people on Craigslist. I've had him for almost 6 months now. The past 2 weeks I've noticed negative changes. First off, I know he slept a lot, he loves sleeping, but that was all he did. He never ran on his wheel anymore, still doesn't. His hair doesn't look nice and silky. His eyes crust over, I feel so terrible that I wet them gently for him to be able to open up his eyes.
The most important things I noticed was that he can't walk straight anymore. He can walk, but it's so wobbly and he tips over or falls down. He can't even sit and brush his head with his paws without leaning to one side. My friend looked at him today and noticed a bump-like thing on one side of his face. She said it may be a tumor. I really hate to see him in this state. It's so pitiful. Is he really a goner? And if so, is it fair to watch him die, even if he's suffering, or would it be best to commit a mercy kill? Please help.

Please don't ever attempt to mate a hamster. There are literally millions of unwanted ones out there in the world and just because someone thinks it's cool to watch it doesn't warrant you the right to make a bunch of animals suffer. If that's the only reason your thinking about getting them then don't. Your obviously not responsible enough to handle them. As I've said before; hamsters aren't toys. They aren't play things for your enjoyment. They are animals and deserve the same respect as your cat or dog and if your willing to breed a hamster go ahead and breed your cat or dog. Oh wait; it was probably neutered so that it couldn't to prevent a flood of unwanted animals into the world. Don't ever ever ever ever ever attempt to breed an animal. You should leave that to the licensed professionals. That's why they are licensed and that is why they are professionals. Because thay know how to handle them and they can find homes for them before they have even been born. If you haven't even owned a hamster yet then you shouldn't. And if the first thing your going to ask is about whether or not they'll kill each other after they breed then you should never get one.

I think you should take him to the vet to have him put down it is never fun to watch a pet die so it would be easier for the both of you to just have him put down. If it is a tumor you could have surgery but that might cost alot so you look in your heart and do whats best for you and your pet.

no don't kill it - i think he has tumour - just remove any sharp objects from the cage example: stairs pointed or pointed things, leave it as a safe place for it to run around. - it would not die if you take precaustions and i don't think that he is suffering so leave it leaving and don't you ever consider taking off his life..

good luck
