That's a Buffalo Nickel. Most of them aren't rare or worth much but they are neat! See the link. Here is a pricing guide: http://www.geocities.com/RodeoDrive/4044/prices.html

You have what is called a "buffalo" nickel. There are rare varities, but I believe 1913 is the key date if memory serves. Most others aren't especially rare or valuable. Yours is worth more than most, however, because you can obviously read the date. Those coins wore down rapidly, and the date was usually the first thing to go. The coins were still circulating when I was a kid (yes, I'm an old fart!) and about every other one had the date worn off even then. Any recent coin value book can tell you approximately what it's worth.

A nickle is a bird, so I'd say it's one of a kind. On the other hand, Indian-head nickels are quite common, and the bison on the back even led to a popular but crude saying in the old days, "He's so cheap, he'll squeeze a nickel 'til the buffalo [poops]."

Depending on the shape it is in, it could be worth a few bucks. And I do mean JUST a FEW dollars. Not a whole bunch. I collect Wheat back pennies and anything like you mention. Indian head nickles, or Mercury head dimes. But I have also been to coin shops and they sell these for just a few dollars. Like I saw a quarters at this shop that sold for like $8.00. So yes I am sure it is worth a few but not sure on an exact amount.

It's silver, so worth more than a nickle, but the acutal worth would depend on the condition of the coin.

Unless it is in mint condition, it probably is worth 5cents.
