How far does space expand? No one really knows, but scientific estimates place the diameter of the universe at somewhere between 16 billion and 160 billion light years (most estimates are in the 20-30 billion light year range).
What lies at the end? Not empty space, not a void, not infinity, just nothing. The expanding space as we see it is not just "space", it is "space-time". Things exist only within the boundary of that space-time sphere. Outside of that sphere is really a meaningless concept, because nothing is outside that sphere. Again, don't confuse nothing with empty space. Not even empty space exists outside the universe. Only nothing. As the universe expands, it "creates" additional space-time where formerly there was nothing.

no one really knows how far space expands and what lies at the end. but people say that you can imagine space expanding like a a raison bread.
at first they are all clustered together in the dough (the raisons are the planets). but when you put it in the oven, it expands and the raisons gets further and further away.
so scientists are saying that as space expands, the planets are getting further and further away. but no one knows why or how it does

The idea behind space is that there is nothing. How can nothing have an end? What would end it? would there cease to be nothing? That doesn't make sense at all so obviously there is no end. Also, to call it infinite is wrong. Since there is nothing you might as well say that space equals one. Or two or three or infinity. There is no difference since there is no possible way to measure nothing.

very intuitive concept.
If you considered space to be air and the tire the Universe. the following would happen;the airwould expand slowly inside the tire till it reaches a boundry. That boudary would be the wall of the tire which is the containment of the air.

space is created as the universe expands from the big bang. You want to see the end .. just look around .. what we observe as we look around is the end of the expansion ... we are witnesses to the universe unfounding.

I don't believe I want to even attempt the first question and the only thing I can be sure of with the second is what does not lie at the end!
What you will not find at the outer edge of space is a red brick wall. ;-)
( Is it even grammatically correct to say the outer edge of space? :-o )

At the End Of The Universe is the Milliways restaurant. Well, it's not really AT the end of the universe.... but you can see it from there!

No one knows.......so why dwell on it? (Even if someone offered an answer as to size of universe, would you, or, at least, would most of the scientific community believe it and their "proof"?)

it extends infinately and is forever expanding. there is no end to space. it is limitless.. hence "space"
