I know from numerous sources what sights I should see while there, but I need to know what I should avoid doing while in Europe. I shall be starting the trip most likely in London. Next, I shall be traveling across the United Kingdom, and then the rest of Europe.
So, starting in London, England, what types of behaviors should I refrain from, which areas should I avoid, and what are some of the American-friendly places that are lesser known to tourists, and how should I behave in said places?
Any help from Europeans and anyone who visits frequently is greatly appreciated.

Not all, but so many Americans visiting the UK never travel outside of England and the capitol City of London. This is such a shame because there is so much more to see.
Try getting into the countryside, perhaps to the Lake District in the North West or the Yorkshire Dales, again in the North of England. Use the public transport systems to get around, especially the railway network.
Almost every town will have a local tourist information centre, you can call in and get information about local ameneties and attractions, travel information and accomodation.
As far as your behaviour is concerned, I wouldn't worry too much. I can't think of anything in particular that would be offensive or seem rude to us here that wouldn't be considered the same where you come from. So just be yourself.

Your very welcome, Europe likes USA people.Just be polite and enjoy.
When you arrive at the UK airport buy straight a Travel card for the tube and buses(gives you unlimited access to travel in London on the days )Good places in London are: Big Ben (out side you can't go in),Tower Bridge, Westminster Cathedral(entree fee),Tower of London(expensive), London Dungeon (very good museum but beware see you have the right money, they ask me that time 4 £ too much, it was dark on the till and they gave me too short back!),The MOMI Museum(Museum of Moving image)I don't now if it's back open but it's the best if you like to know everything about films.Covent Garden(for the atmosphere and sometimes there's a antique market, also Portobello Road (flea & antique market on Saturday, Petticoat Lane Market(on Sunday normal cheap market).Like evrywhere avoid late night alone walks and never leave drinks unattented in disco's clubs.
From there it's good to travel (take the Euro Star) to Paris.

until eventually now you leave the U. S. purchase a Eurail bypass. those won't be in a position to be bought in Europe!!! i take advantage of those on each and every occasion i bypass over (i become born in London) - that's the main inexpensive thank you to shuttle in Europe, and you will nonetheless see incredibly lots each and everything! As i don't comprehend how far you would be vacationing it incredibly is confusing to respond to your question. yet whilst i become going over, i might make London (Victoria Station - i think of) my HQ in view which you could board the practice to France from there and not in any respect wander away! Have a brilliant holiday - and BTW purchase lst classification tickets on BritRail Europass! Your friendly shuttle agent would be waiting that may assist you! CJ

One thing to avoid is the London Dungeon. If you are into haunted houses and such then go for it, but if not, dont waste your time or money on it. Do take day trips out into the countrysides. There is so much to see outside of london.
I sometimes just picked a destination and headed there to see what I got into....
Overall, just have a great time and relax. Just take it all in... its a wonderful feeling!!!
