I have always felt so. & I even had a bad experience with a seller on there. They had great ratings till the day after I bought & then something happened to them & hundreds of folks started complaining on the feedback listing. Which was odd because the seller had been on Amazon for years & had 99.9% perfect feedback. I think that the seller got sick or something to have such a drastic turnaround. After following Amazon's requirements, I got my $ back no problem.
Sellers other than Amazon do not get your Credit card info. Amazon takes care of the entire transaction. Which is how they are able to control the situation. Amazon does make you show proof of trying to contact the seller & they probably do so also. Then you either get your item or a complete refund.
I still buy on there frequently & have only had that single bad experience which Amazon's guarantee made it right. So i do recommend buying from the site. & usually the individual sellers have better prices than Amazon for items.

Yes, it is a wonderful place to buy stuff, my mom buys stuff from there all of the time and we hardly go to book stores because amazon ships so fast and is so simple.

Amazon is an excellent site to buy new items. I have been through it before and they have excellent support. It is pobably the safest place to buy things online anyway.
