Hhmm, it probably is, but sometimes it's almost obligatory. If you're quite a bit older than her, and she's in her early teens, then you know exactly what plans they have for her. So nobody can blame you for protecting her.

However, try not to be over-protective. This could damage the relationship that you two have.

Anyhow, I would say that threatening should only happen if they have been threatening towards her or physically or verbally abusive to her.

not at all. you do not want an idiot taking advantage of your sister now do you? in the muslim culture muslim men protect the females in their family. this is why you do not see single mothers and pregnent teens.
