Afraid that a couple of answers are wrong in one crucial respect: black holes are NOT hypothetical, they DO exist and have been proven to exist - as one answerer states; there is one at the centre of our galaxy. We know it is there, because we have seen it. How can we see something that even light can't escape? Simple - we can "see" the radiation it emits in the EM spectrum.
So what lies on the other side: could the hole itself be, as some theorize, the fabled Einstein-Rosen Bridge - in other words, a wormhole, fast-track tunnel to a distant part of the galaxy (hell, why not have delusions of grandeur and say the universe).
Or could it be a core of extremely dense matter. A core, microscopic in size, yet weighing several hundred thousand gigatons - as yet others theorize?
Surprisingly, we don't know the answer (what? I hear you cry, scientists don't know the answer to something?). Why don't we know?; you'd be amazed at the number of tough, hardened, gung-ho, astronauts who were deafening in their silence when asked to volunteer for the mission to go have a look.
Sorry I wasn't able to answer your question, but I hope I've given you something to think about. We need enquiring minds - that's how we gain knowledge.
The modern name for a black hole, by the way, is quantum singularity.

The problem with that question is that a black hole bends space time. The closer you get to the center of a Black Hole the slower time moves, infinitely. So therefor at a certain point close to the center time stops and it takes an infinitely long time to go any further. If you were to try and go through a black hole you would just get stuck in the middle since it pulls everything towards a point at the center. It is impossible to escape it because even light can't move fast enough and faster than light travel is impossible.

A black hole is made of ordinary matter, which is very very dense. That is why it has such gravity; a black hole's gravity doesn't even allow light to escape.
It is not a hole, as in a passageway; so there is no other side as such. Matter gets into a black hole and remains there adding to the black hole's mass and gravity.
Black holes exist, and there are proofs of their existence. In fact, there is one at the center of our own galaxy, the Milky Way.

first, scientists have not proved that black holes even exist so all theories are just speculation. scientists believe that the other side of a black hole is another distant part of the universe. since the speed of light cannot be passed a black hole is supposed to be a bridge from one side of the universe to the other.

Hawkins would say a singluarity which is "physics speak" for we have no clue.
The laws of physics break down in a black hole because physics is an incomplete description of the universe, so your guess is as good as Hawkins or anyone else.
You can say Magic Fairyland and be as accurate as the greatest mind alive today - although more people will likely listen to him.

the speed of light, so to speak, dictates the 'speed' of time. because black holes are strong enough to pull in light, if one were sucked into a black hole, they would not get to, or go through the point of singularity, they would get to a certain point and be stuck there forever (unless the black hole somehow ceased to exist)

This is like asking the question, What lies on the other side of our moon?
More of nothing, lots and lots of empty space with a few celestial bodies here and there.

open space. the same thing that is on this side of a black hole is on the other side. And over, and under.
It is not a passageway.

Like windchime (above) says... from that perspective WE are on the "other side" of a black hole!

No one knows
No one EVEN knows if a BLACK HOLE exists in reality. The ONLY realality is the mind of Stephen Hawkings who thinks they do exist.
I think GOD exists.
Am I as right as he is!
I can't give you ANY MORE PROOFS than he can!
Which of us or neither of us is right!
You get to decide that!
It's based upon which, if any, of us you believe to be a prophet or wise guy!
Pick wrong and someone else can come along and prove something to dispute us and you and you look like a fool.
NOW chose or die!
