I'll tell you why. It's the arrogant, rude attitudes of the people, especially the women. People are rude when they meet you, and they by and large stay that way (they don't like newcomers.) The farther east you go from Louisville, the worst it gets.

In fact, Frankfort, Lawrenceburg, Winchester, and Lexington are easily 4 of the 10 meanest places I've ever been to in the country! I lived in KY for five years; I felt ostricized for just not being a native.

I've lived in 6 states and visited 32 others (and even California was friendlier than KY.) Also, the rest of the South is great; The Carolinas, Mississippi, Alabama, and Georgia have true Southern hospitality. The best hospitality can be found in Texas and Oklahoma.

But, Kentucky? "It's that friendly?" What a crock! Yes, Kentucky is beautiful and diverse in geography, but it's a great place to VISIT and to BE FROM! That's it!

yes i agree - im in murray and its a college town. all the jobs are given to college students, and very expensive to live here. im supposed to be in low income housing but my rent is over 100 dollaRS. lots of the people are rude and will stab you in the back. i dont think its such a pretty place to live , atleast in murray. ive only been to greenville tn which i thought was very pretty and the people were nice and courteous.

I am from Kentucky, I would have to agree that we have some mean people here... not anymore than anywhere else I have been. I happen to love newcomers, when working through college I worked at a Ramada Inn back in the restaurant part. We had a whole array of different visitors and I loved to speak with each and every one of them (especially the Australians) So maybe you didnt get to talk to each and every person in KY and I am sorry that you feel that way. The next time an outsider almost side swips me I will make sure to smile LoL ok that was just a joke. We all have different opinions of each other apparently because when I am out of state I feel as though people look down on me...assuming I have 12 kids, run barefoot, and make moonshine. So lets all drop the sterotypes, grow up, and get along please

..gee, it must be the conservatives.. or, surely some other group of people, other than my group, is at fault - just poking fun at some of the prevalent thinking of today.. doesn't Kentucky have some of those misty blue hills? Almost seems impossible anything 'bad' could be near that. Maybe men (male and female) shoulda been made to be robots.. or an ant farm.. [Summint different's goin on here.. this world is made up of everyone's choices - why?]

I lived my whole life in Louisville Kentucky. Yes the people here are rude and mean, the consistency remains the same when I venture out into Shepherdsville/Bardstown KY.

Just about everyone I encountered here was ghetto or a bully.

People don't seem like they want to get to know you, or if one of their friends don't approve then they automatically don't approve of you based on their friends judgements.

They seem to have the audacity to do things that are quite criminal, and don't seem to give a lick about the law, when reporting them would get them to group together with their friends and accuse you of 'running your mouth' and they will try to come after you.

They don't want to become educated though the people here are extremely streets smart.

Been in Ky since 2013; and it hasn't changed. These people are something else. They get angry because their reputation is bad, however they have truly earned it. I wish this would have came up on google before I moved here, and when I leave I will not be saying anything good about this place. Especially Frankfort.

Kentucky is alright.

My state is right above it. Separated by the mighty Ohio River.
I have no problems with it.
