I am looking for a play that is relatively modern in writing, but is based in Medieval times and is a comedy. Does such a monster exist?

Hey Lissachck,

First is : Seven medieval Latin comedies (Garland library of medieval literature)

2nd is: Five Comedies of Medieval France
Mary Jessie Parker, Oscar Mandel Illustrator Shannon McNeill Illustrated by Shannon McNeill Mary Parker Nourie
Contents: The play of Saint Nicholas, by J. Bodel.--The play of Robin and Marion, by A. de la Halle.--Peter Quill's shenanigans (Anonymous)--The washtub (Anonymous)--The chicken-pie and the chocolate cake (Anonymous).

Many of Shakespears plays have been modernized. Look for a modern version of one of these.

A modern play set in the spring of 1400 (late medieval) is a wonderful comedy in modern verse by Christopher Frye: "The Lady's Not For Burning." It is witty, bawdy, ironic, and quite lovely.

Do you mean "comedy" in the modern, full-of-jokes sense, or the classical, not-a-tragedy sense?

If the latter, "The Lion in Winter", written in the 1960s is called "A Comedy in Two Acts." It has a lot of great, funny lines, and no one dies, but it's not a "comedy" in the Saturday Night Live vein of comdey.
