So, before I get started, I think it's worth mentioning that I live in a dorm. That being said... Last night, steaming hot water was coming out of our (hot) water faucets and the shower, and even the water in the toilet was warm/hot. It's not like you'd turn it on and it gradually got super steaming hot... Within a second of turning it on, there was steam. The plumber was called and now the faucet water is back to normal (still a little hot, but not melt-your-skin-off hot), but now the shower water is ice cold (even after running it for 10 minutes, with it turned all the way). On the floor below me, they had the same problem last night, but the shower is fine now. So, first, how does the water even get that hot in the first place, and second, what's going on with the shower now?
