Could someone list important factorizations/decompositions in linear algebra?

I would like a list of them, and if you could, a general idea of what they are used for, and why they are important. Thanks.

An example would be LU decomposition and QR factorization. I would like to know about these, how to find them, why they are important, and what other ones are out there.

I think what you're talking about is matrix algebra, and not the simple matrix algebra one studies near the beginning of second-year calculus.

But I doubt you're going to get a lot of joy from that question here. Better to look for websites more focused on the subject.
