I work as a manager for a credit company, i am working 12 hour days at the moment, bringing my work home as i dont have time to fit it all in at work! It will get easier when i am fully staffed but at the moment i am knackered, i never seem to have time with my hubby and kids, and there is a job vacancy just come up for a warden in sheltered housing where my parents are living, i am going to apply for it! It means selling our house to live in, but we would be better off financially, and i love the idea of looking after the elderly and making life a little easier for them, where i can! I may not get the job, but do you think i,m mad???

Absolutely not. You are in a delicate position of balancing your family and income. If giving up a house and job that zaps three quarters your awake time gives you time with your kids and makes you a happy parent, go for it!

Your children need to see what it means to put your happiness and family first.

My 2 cents.. The decision point should be whether you'd be more happy and well-off with plan B or whether you'd be more happy if you had less workload. If it is the first option, try to make an estimated guess about the odds of getting the job and make a risk analysis. If it is the latter: Why don't you analyze your responsibilities and figure out if there is another way of doing things? I suggest you to use one more weekend day to study this in a relaxed environment. In the end, you may find it possible to delegate some of your responsibilities, coordinate things better or employ an assistant. If you can't find a clear answer, consult your manager. Yet, please be careful with your positioning. No boss likes someone who is complaining about the workload :) Make it clear why you think the way you are and try to give logical reasons.

Wish you a happy life..
