that bush is "prolife" and yet he has no objection with the death penalty killing innocent people?
i'm interested: why should there not be a choice? to me, it makes so sence that this should be a matter decided by anyone other than the people that it directly concerns (is mother and father of the fetus)

First of all, to say that the President has no objection to the death penalty for innocent people only reveals your ignorance. Further, some truly believe in the preservation of all human life - whether it is an unborn fetus or a convicted killer. I don't believe that we have the luxury of being so simplistic. I don't think the life of an unborn child and the life of a convicted killer are comparable. Also, it is possible to be pro-choice but not be pro-abortion. Many are pro-choice not because they want people to have abortions but because they don't believe it is an issue that should be determined by Congress and the Courts. It is moral issue and a privacy issue.

I don't know if Bush is aware of the growing number (123) of people released from death row with evidence of their innocence.
In the last couple of years information about 4 cases where it is extremely likely an innocent person was executed has surfaced-

1. Calvin Willingham- executed for setting a fire that led to the deaths of several people. The techniques of investigating fires in criminal cases have greatly advanced. They now show that the fire was an accident, not arson. Texas.

2. Carlos DeLuna- executed in Texas for a fatal stabbing. Sloppy police work, a failure to pursue a more likely suspect (who bragged of being the actual killer and about getting another man to pay for it.

3. Gary Graham. Texas. details available at Death Penalty Information Center
4. Calvin Griffiths. Missouri. details available at Death Penalty Information Center. The local district attorney has actually reopened an investigation into this case, because she has strong doubts about it.

More cases will certainly turn up. Death penalty supporters have always claimed that no innocent person has been executed in the modern era (1976-present.) We do know that 123 people have been released from death row with hard evidence of their innocence. (That is over 10% of the number of executions)
It is likely that more than 4 innocent people were executed, but because executions normally close cases, we may never know for sure.

death penalty killing innocent...not familiar with that even though I do believe capitol punishment should exist. Abortion is a hard one. As Americans we should preserve the right to choose and not have big brother tell us what we can and can't do...on the other hand isn't it immoral to kill a fetus on purpose?

Your right. Republicans will kill an adult in a heartbeat but save a fetus. Democrats will kill a fetus and save a murderer.

Some people just don't get the irony in life.

Has GWB ever made the statement that he does not object to innocent people receiving the death penalty? You can't rationally compare abortion to the death penalty in my opinion.

1. The death penalty kills convicted scum, that don't deserve to live.once they are dead we are done paying for them.
2. OK are you saying if a parent wants to off their kids that's their choice. If that's the case , why talk to you ,where are your parents.

Yes, it's very ironic. But he and his cronies are all posers. They have one agenda and will use any demographic they can to further their special interests. They get the religious right to get all stirred up about abortion and gay marriage but it all boils down to money and power and whoever they can get it from however they can get it. They want the WORLD economy in their hands and that's driving everything.

Innocent people? They were convicted and found guilty in a court of law. It makes no sense to you? Then you aren't very smart, are you honey?
Babies ARE innocent. They feel pain. Abortion is gruesome and barbaric.
End of story.
