If someone is on the verge of possibly committing suicide, and you do NOTHING to help them, that says a lot about your character. I think if you have the chance to help someone in that situation, you absolutely should. Make that person feel loved. Be with them. Try to give them hope. In such extreme cases, just being there for them could mean the difference between life and death. Try to get him or her to a psychiatrist. If someone has been driven to the point of considering suicide, there's almost always a problem with a chemical imbalance in the brain. A psychiatrist can prescribe a medication that will possibly remedy that. Oh yes, and Buddhist had a wonderful idea as well. Distracting someone while they're like that can be difficult, but if you can make them laugh that could make a huge difference.
