Welfare: Created a Generation dependent on Government handouts but in the 40+ years since its inception has done nothing to get rid of the poor.
Social Security: Always in danger of going broke and doesn't provide seniors enough to live on.
US Postal service: As most correspondence is done through e-mail and most businesses use UPS and FEDEX for important stuff and most bills can now be paid on line, the only thing I've seen it do lately is provide me with a never ending stream of Junk Mail.

Netta: When did these unfortunates problems become mine. Why is it that when I complain about the unfairness of the Vile Corrupt and Disgusting Family Court System and the $1,000.00 a month it allows my ex wife to steal in child support everyone says it is my responsibility to support my children, but these so called unfortunates are not held to the same level?

Private industry, being competitive, will always do the job better for less.
We already have taxpayer funded healthcare for indigent Americans but unfortunately the invader illegals are burdening the system and taking away from our poorest.
People who believe in enforced universal healthcare haven't taken a look at countries that have it, not even the countries north and south of US borders. They may as well believe in Santa & tooth fairy: magic.
Personally I like being able to fire a doctor who's not listening to me, who fills out prescriptions wrong repeatedly &c, and take my $ elsewhere.

People feel that if the Government controls healthcare, then it will be paid for by the taxes we already pay and everyone will have access to the services they need.
Social Security was created to help us get out of the depression - and it did. Unfortunately the rich and powerful have an loop hole in there that keeps the system from working properly. The loop hole is a cap on how much money you can be asked to contribute a year - let's say the cap is 10% of your income or $3,000 (I am not sure the specific numbers). With that kind of a cap a person who makes $30,000 each year meet both of those criteria - 10% and $3,000 a year. Someone making $300,000 per year is actually paying 1% of their income - and yet their benefits are based upon their actual earnings. This loop hole has the richest getting the most benefit and paying the smalles percentage of their salary. If the $3,000 a year cap was removed, Social Security would do just exactly what it was intended to do - take care of the elderly and infirm when they are unable to work. We must remember, too, that $3,000 was a lot more money during depression time than it is now.
While folks complain about welfare, if you remove it from the equation you get a lot more crime, homelessness and uneducated children. How will that help America?
USPS is no longer a government funded agency, if you believe what the employees say. It seems that privatization is what is keeping USPS afloat - and while it may seem that it is unnecessary, it is not. We still have a percentage of people who are not on computers and we still have a need for registered mail, IRS notices, census, mail order, cards, paper copies of bills, etc.
Granted, we are basing our current society upon outmoded infrasturcture, but change takes time - and illconceived change is very dangerous and destroys lives. Our homeless problem started in the 80s when Reagan decided to cut funding to mental hospitals, deciding that many of the folks in those institutions could take care of themselve and simply refused. Many patients were turned out into the streets and that is where they stayed, because they could not take care of themselves - and once they were on the streets it was not uncommon for others to join them.
What is really called for is a complete overhaul, but one that considers what will happen to people - not changes based upon theoretically ideals of what people should be able to do. There are many flaws in our system, things that don't work for us today - but trimming around the edges won't solve the problems. This is why Children are our greatest resource. Hopefully they can be educated and inspired to approach these problems from a new angle and get somethings accomplished. There's a great novel out by Robert Heinlein that has some very interesting ideas indeed: For Us the Living http://www.amazon.com/Us-Living-Comedy-Customs/dp/0743491548/sr=8-1/qid=1171831905/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/002-0529028-3531238?ie=UTF8&s=books

Well, National health services do not try to make a profit out of people, so people are treated equally, rich or poor. And many people think that it is unfair to make money from ill people. Prvitisation also costs the government money. The NHS in Britain is one such example. The private finance initiative costs the NHS so much, that, if it was gotton rid of, the NHS would be out of debt within a year. But it is not as simple as that, as there are many delicate laws and systems which help privitisation. But dont thank Blair for that, just thank Margerat Thatcher.

Not everybody can afford the private industry. And, this generation dependant on government handouts that you're talking about, what exactly were they supposed to do? Roll over and die? Social Security wouldn't be in danger of going broke if politicians would keep their slimy hands out of it. US Postal service is still needed to this day, not everybody has access to email and FedEx and UPS like you claim. Did you ever stop to think that not everyone in this country is as well off as you are or your peers?

Other country's have been successful at U.H.C. what makes you think that the greatest country in the world cannot be. The W.H.O has evaluated health care around the world and ranked these country's. Currently the U.S. is ranked number 1 in cost of heath care and 14th in quality of care, I think this is an indication that private enterprise is not working. The C.E.O. of G.M. has said that for every new car sold $1500 goes to insure its employees and retiree's, I would assume that this is true of many industry's and we are all paying this hidden "tax" every time we purchase most anything. The insurance company's profits are measured in the billions of dollars. This is a cost that could be put toward a system of community clinics that could preform preventive medicine. This too would lower the cost of health care as it would provide people with a chance to catch disease in its earliest stages and not wait until it becomes more costly in an emergency room or hospital stay. All in all I think the time has come for dialog and arguments from both sides of this question to try and improve the health care system in the U.S.

Private industry does a bette job? With the highest prices in the world, and a lot of people unable to afford coverage, I wouldn't be too quick to salute them.
Your diagnosis is wrong, anyway.
Welfare: Has helped numerous INDIVIDUALS out of poverty. Expecting it to end poverty for all is too much.
Social Security: Not always in danger of gong broke-- just now, with a huge wave of baby boomers retiring it is. Was never inteded to be the sole source of support for seniors.
USPS: Delivers more than junk mail at a lower rate than other industrialized nations.

utilising stimulus money to construct loose clinics in each and every congressional district could be a extra advantageous use of the money than the ridiculous initiatives they're going to in all threat spend it on. it would supply jobs in the form marketplace and scientific field. And it would supply scientific look after 1000's of folk who won't be in a position to arise with the money for it in any different case. The clinics could additionally be geared up to be eco-friendly, utilising passive photograph voltaic to cut back their power intake and rainwater harvesting from the roof to flush the loos, etc. Or previous homes could be switched over into loose clinics thereby revitalizing crumbling neighborhoods. touch your representatives and push for loose clinics. there is not any solid reason to dismantle our well being care device whilst in easy terms a small proportion of folk have a situation with it. of direction, this does not provide Obama the potential and administration he needs so he could be against it. And hospitalizations for people who won't be in a position to arise with the money for well being care might nonetheless could be addressed. whether it would bypass an prolonged way in addressing the well being care situation and concurrently stimulating the financial device and coming up jobs. it is no longer an entire answer, yet area of a answer that could have far accomplishing advantages. I heard Obama advise giving a soreness pill to Grandma incredibly of the scientific technique she needs. this is creepy. So in case you think of rationing isn't area of his plan, you're improper. the government would be finding out who merits scientific care and what kind of care they are in a position to have. everybody undergo in strategies that previous movie "Logan's Run". previous human beings, be very afraid!

I think the private sector has made such a mess of the healthcare system that the government could not do any worse.Welfare and Social Security are not rights, they are entitlements WE created.Healthcare is a BASIC HUMAN RIGHT,not a privelege for those who can afford it.And everyone should have it regardless of income!!!

Serious mental confusion along with a shameful unwillingness to look at the lack of efficacy of existing big-government projects.
Or, to be much nicer about it, wishful thinking, which certain politicians are always prepared to take advantage of - knowing that by the time the masses awaken it will be too late for them to correct the error.
