What you are asking is calle the bluescreen process. All the actors stand in front of a bluescreen and the background is added later. You have to make sure non of the actors are wearing any blue clothes. But it is hard to do and cumbersome. if you email me direct with a few more details i will give you a few ideas and/or tips

If I understand your question correctly you have filmed something and want to put a backdrop behind it.

There is a little snag here, if you did not plan ahead during production. The way this would have been done would be to film your actors in front of a green screen (or any other solid color screen, that none of the actors have on them), and chromo-key out the background. Then you could place the backdrop on a lower video track, and what you filmed on top.

The other answers gave you a poor answer. Windows Movie Maker does not have a chromo-keyer and in no way will help you here.

As far as I know there is no software that you can download for free that has a chromokeyer. The cheapest alternative would be to use Sony Vegas, I think I saw it for $120 with DVD architect last time I was at target. If the project is due in a few days though you probably don't have time to learn the software though.
