Went to a furniture store yesterday to buy a regular mattress. The salesman said only one option available. We wanted a pillowtop mattress, ending up looking at a Simmons (I believe) did not look very pillowtop to me. He said something about getting this foam to put under the new mattress. We thought we could just buy the top mattress with no box springs. Any ideas on this subject? I really want a pillowtop mattress with like a 6.5 comfort zone.

No it was not expensive for the mattress and the foam...only 400.00 but I just wondered if I could of went with a pillowtop regular mattress and put down some kind of foam underneath.

I had a friend who faced the same predicament. Her teenage daughter liked the waterbed frame with it's shelves and storage. So she special ordered a mattress to be made to the frame specifications. I guess it wasn't as expensive as you might imagine.
