Can anybody tell me how to change my keyboard from american to english?

ive got a EN symbol on the task bar click on that and you can change from usa to uk

Start - Control Panel - Regional and Language Settings - Change it to English UK settings there

And the difference is to to with the layout of certain symbols like " £ $ etc...

you may find both UK and USA are there, remove the USA one and it will inform you it cannot do it until you reboot.

to the other question, yes they are the same language as to the 'qwerty' layout but using the shift key to access the '@' key for example will show " on a USA layout....you need to use shift+2 to get the @ symbol unless you change to UK.
