I believe so. I look at things this way. Babies being born today are smarter than babies born even a decade ago. But, a good example is what even the elementary school kids are learning today. I don't even think that some adults could do math that they do in sixth grade.

Times change so I do believe that the 78 Steelers (even Mr. Refrigerator Perry) would lose against the 94 Patriots.

Nope. Just look at any sport where there's an actual metric, like speed, distance, weight, whatever, and as long as people have been doing it, the times get getting faster and the competitors keep getting stronger, or whatever. For one thing, training methods today are much more scientifically advanced. Do you think an Olympic sprinter or weightlifter from the 70's could beat the athletes now? No way. The guys are just bigger, faster and stronger now, for whatever reason. I wouldn't pit this year's teams against the players of 2050, either..

The players are physically bigger now. Linemen in the 60s were big at 6' 235lbs. Now they aren't big until over 6'7" 300 lbs.
