Criticize Bush and you don't support or Rspect the troops.

That nonsense doesn't wash any more as the majority of Americans want them home.

So I ask, why do Conservatives want the troops dead?

Hermann Goering, Hitler's propaganda minister explained it well.
" Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism, and exposing the country to greater danger."

This should ring a bell.

Because it is not in the interests of the US, nor in the interests of international security, that we have a precipitous or even a timed withdrawal while the mission remains uncompleted and while the counterinsurgency in Iraq is beginning to show significant progress. The only reason I see for the Democrats to cut & run is for partisan political power. By any objective analysis, the situation in the middle east will deteriorate significantly, and the threat against the US will increase exponentially if we hand victory to the terrorists, as championed by the Democrats. Whether going into Iraq was a mistake or not, it would be an even worse mistake to pull out. The only clusterf**k is between the ears of people who think the best course is to leave Iraq at this point in time.

I think you should just relax a little and start thinking about what you are saying.
I am a liberal too, but I have no idea how you came to this idea.
Yesterday, even Bush said that you can be supportive of the troops and critical of the leaders.
Nobody wants the troops dead. If you believe that then you are not thinking. You should stop making a reasonable party look bad.
This is exactly what is wrong with this country.

The troops are the last seeming bastion of support the conservative side of the argument can muster. The majority of Americans are against them. Congress is against them. Now they only have the troops they sent to Iraq, under false pretenses, I might add, to hold over the heads of average Americans. Who is more unpatriotic: the person who wants to bring our troops home or the person who uses them as a pawn for greed?

They would rather have the troops dead than admit they screwed up in Iraq. This war can't be won now. It was Bush's war. He mismanaged it. Everyone knows that. However, admitting defeat, is a political pill Bush and the Republicans won't swallow. They continue to sacrifice our soldiers to keep the reality at bay.

All people, Democrats, Republicans, Independents, and Libertarians want the troops home. The problem is the Dem's want a defeat, and the rest want victory. That's not blackmail, it's the intelligent option.

Repuiblicans love Big Business. They have several lobbyists who represent large military contractors such as Halliburton. More troops in use means more equipment and supplies to sell to Uncle Sam ,meaning more money in their pockets. But the Dems will put an end to that.

They don't but cutting funds is the best form of blackmailing the troops there is out there. And the truth of the matter is that is what the democrats are trying to do.
