I am 32 years old, and have been wearing glasses since i was 11. I STILL feel so self concious wearing them, even though i have 3 really nice pairs of designer glasses. Why is this, and why is there still the stigma attached to girls wearing glasses - you know the saying 'boys dont make passes at girls wearing glasses'

I gave you a star because I really like this questin. I am 27 years old and have had to wear glasses since I was in the 7th grade. I have had really cute designer glasses myself and still hate wearing them. For some reason, even though everyone has complimented me on my cute glasses and that they look cute on my face, I still feel compelled to take them off! I only wear them when I drive or when I am watching a movie...or sometimes when I am not wearing makeup. Then I feel like, hey, I look bad anyway because I don't have my makeup on so the glasses won't make a difference. If I want to wear contacts, because of my stigmatism and because I have really dry eyes, I would have to pay extra and put drops in my eyes 4 times a day, along with cream in my eyes every night, along with fake plastic tear ducts in at all times. Sucks! Good luck with your question and I will be checking back because I want to know, too!

Maybe because alot of people label glasses as dorky, But there is no reason to be self concious about your glasses, personally I think glasses look good on some people and if you have nice designer glasses then they should look great dont worry about it

i am not sure why you feel self conscious wearing glasses, only you would really know that, personally i think girls with glasses are really cute, and they make everyone look smarter for some reason, maybe cause they are associated with reading glasses or something.. or smarter people tend to wear them for lots of reasons... either way i really would not know, contacts are a pain though and glasses are really cute in my opinion so i say stick with them, and i gave you a star ;) have a good day

I wore glasses for the longest time and I hated my glasses! My maiden name was Glass and for the longest time people in school used to call me "Glass with the glasses!" and a sarcastic way!
My mother finally bought me Contact lenses at 14 years old and I've been wearing them since!

I think you feel self concious when you wearing glassesbecause you might think you not pretty enough.Itn't true when you said boys don'tpasses at girls wearing glasses. I'm a cheerleader and i have of them looking at me

i think that you should just practice seeing how great you can look and how nothin including a pair of glasses is gonna change that! you look like you are probably pretty so yea and a guy will still ask a girl out if she has glasses. you could try contacts but even if you do then be sure not to blow off any sellf esteem issues still lying around.

Yeah, it's probably a throwback from your youth and the whole "four-eyes" thing. But nowadays, glasses are considered accessories, just like purses and shoes. I know someone who wears non-prescription glasses because she likes the way they look. My sister has glasses to go with every outfit. She makes a good living, so she can afford it.

I am 25 years old and have had glasses since the 4th grade. I love them! They make me appear more intelligent than I really am and help set me apart from the "other guys." My girlfriend, who is a hottie, usually wears contacts. But I actually prefer it when she wears her glasses. She usually wears them in the evenings. I think they make women look sophisticated. I say, it's good to be different from the norm. Rock those spectacles!

I guess a lot of people don't like their glasses , I hated mine so much when I was young that I took them off when my picture was taken . Now I wish I had a picture of me in my glasses .
I ware glasses all the time now & it doesn't bother me any more

i used to wear glasses but not any more.i stoped wearing glasses at age 13.i like girls wit glasses and witout glasses. man i hate glasses
