your puffer will make a meal of your little fishies..i have personally seen a puffer cleanly bite through the stomach of an oscar cichlid. also..as mentioned above..a puffer is a brackish water fish not really meant for pure water so even if your puffer didnt kill the other fish..eventually your puffer could suffer from fungus or other infections from lack of proper salt content in your water..good luck ;)

Fresh water puffers are actually brackish water puffers. They need a certain amount of salt in the water. Puffers are a little aggressive and won't live peacefully with your tetras and guppies. They live fine with scats, Finger fish or mono fish, five fin sharks and believe it or not Mollies will live in brackish to salt like conditions!

yes but I would even think of puting him in a tank that would not be brakish water (mixture of fresh and salt water) puffers also get big say 3-4 inches depending on species. puffers have teeth that grow fast so like mice they need something to wear their teeth down with like a pond snail once every 3 days (be sure to crush with fingers first)
also I would use reef salt not aqurium salt for the brakish water tank
be sure not to put in any other fish besides hardy brakish water fish (not guppies unless used for food)

The fish your describing is known as a "figure Eight", I work at a fish store- i know a lot about fish, its kinda sad. Anyway, they are EXTREAMLY aggressive Fish.. and it seems like the neon tetras and guppies are going to be living in horror. buy a tank seperator, so all your fish can live in peace.

It may be okay with them as a juvenile (provided you are adding some salt to the aquarium), but in time these will become aggressive towards anything else in your tank, PLUS will require almost marine conditions. If would be best to plan a tank for just the puffer if you plan to keep him.

yes it will kill them. You can put fresh water puffers with other fish but they must be aggressive and fast swimmers, your's are not.
