the dimensions of an aquarium are 20 inches long, 14 inches wide, and 18 inches high. If 231 cubic inches of water fill 1 gallon, how many gallons of water are in the aquarium to the nearest gallon

(20*14*18) * 231 = ANSWER

Round to nearest whole numer.

V = Length * Width * Height
V = 20 inches * 14 inches * 18 inches
V = 5040 cubic inches

1 Gallon = 231 Cubic inches
5040 cubic inches / 231 cubic inches in a gallon = 21.82 gallons

Now.. it would make sense to round down so you don't overflow the aquarium, but the problem specifically says round to the nearest gallon, so it would be 22 gallons.

It's just a volume question hon, lxwxh to get the volume in cubic inches. then just google it to find how many cc inches there are in a gallon..... easy. If it is .5 or more, round up. If it is .49 or less, round down, since they want nearest gallon, not necessarily a fll aquarium.... Always be sure you answer what they ask,

20*14*18/231 = 21.8 since we don't want overflow we say 21gallons
