If your boy is lactose intoleranct, he won't be able to drink whole milk!
Talk to physician about substitution of an alternative nutrient source to maintain energy and protein intake such as soy or rice milk. Also discuss maintenance of adequate calcium intake, which may require calcium supplementation. If he doesn't like soy, talk to the physician about alternatives. Perhaps if he eats cheese and yogurt he can drink goat's milk.
Make sure you read the food labels on all food you give him as so many foods contain milk.

Easy. Buy lactose free milk at the store. And stop feeding him cheese and yogurt. If he's lactose intolerant you could be doing him some long-term damage by giving him those products... even if it's "not enough" lactose to make the symptoms appear.
He may grow out of the lactose intolerance for a few years... then again, he may not... or he could grow out of it and not see symptoms again until later in life.

Soy free? I think you need to try soy milk instead of regular milk. I'd stay away from the cheese and yogurt too. You really need to discuss this with your pediatrician.

you CAN'T give him whole milk! buy SOY MILK. i am lactose intolerant but i too can eat cheese and yogurt IN SMALL AMOUNTS... it doesn't mean it's good for me... it just means i don't get REALLY sick unless i have to much of something OR if i have small doses DAILY that will make me ill too.
what i want you to be aware of is that there are SERIOUS side effects to giving someone that IS lactose intolerant dairy products!
stomach aches, diarrhea, vomiting... are the less serious consequences. if i eat to much dairy my throat swells up and it feels like i am choking to death on something. i have to FORCE myself to get some water down my throat when this happens...
you NEED to talk to your child's doctor about this condition! it is VERY serious. there are a LOT of soy based products on the market today INCLUDING ICE-CREAM. there is no reason to expose your child to unnecessary dairy. this can be a life or death issue!
oh, i also wanted to mention that if you see the ingrediant "WHEY" in a product that is DAIRY too...

Lactose free milk is the best choice. As many babies reject the soy milk because of the taste. My Baby is lactose intollerance too. I buy him Lactose free milk or milk with probiotic.

I have heard of lactose-free whole milk. I am not sure where I have heard of it. I'm sorry I can't help you anymore than this. Maybe try a health food store and ask someone who works there if they know of a lactose-free whole milk. I know they make organic whole milk (yes, I know that's different), so maybe they make lactose-free whole milk. GL

No. while you're nursing, you will in all threat could ward off milk additionally. he will additionally desire supplemental calcium. i think of Natures' Sunshine sells calcium this is a powder in pills. Open a pill and combine it in applesauce so he gets sufficient calcium. whilst he's older, he could have chewable calcium.
