I currently have a petition to the prime minister on the government website to re-instate special needs schools so that children with learning difficulties can have a better education.

I would appreciate everyones support by signing this petition.

Lets give kids with special needs the opportunity of a better education.

There seems to be some controversy regarding mainstream and special needs schooling requirements(which kids need seperate schools and which dont) My petition is to have special needs schools re-opened so that we have a choice, because at present the special needs schools are/have been closed.
I just want to put the choice back in the hands of parents as to where to send kids for there educational benefit. Because at present all were getting is mainstream schooling with little support for our kids.

Yes indeed.
And can I just say, in answer to the response about integrating special needs children into 'normal' society. That is rubbish. Special needs children CANNOT be integrated into normal schools. It's a nice idea, but it just doesn't work. Most special needs children need one on one attention, which is impossible to give in a normal school. They would probably be bullied by other children. I know this because my cousin has special needs, and she started at a normal school, and is now at a special needs school, where she has come on in leaps and bounds.
Integrating special needs children is not a reality or a possibility, it's an ideal.

There are greater desirable than 62million human beings in the united kingdom. 660000 is somewhat over 10% and you ought to locate those by ability of having the ten% of the inhabitants that is going to church to sign the petition. A exact carried out ballot supplies a honest stability of opinion interior of two-3%. If a ballot shows sixty 5% to be in help of same intercourse marriage which ability sixty two-sixty 8% of the inhabitants helps it. A petition only shows that the folk who must be talked into signing the petition help it.

I do not entirely understand your question because special needs is such a wide category. It is all very well sending an email to an important person but you need to apply youself a liitle more to get something done. Your question tells me nothing at all and you expect the Prime Minister to take any notice.

I'd love to help you but I actually don't agree that segregating special needs children from mainstream school is necessarily the best thing for them. They ought to get used to socialising with other children to prepare themselves for adulthood, and other children need to mix with them to learn how to get along with and respect each other from an early age. Childhood segregation can only lead to segregation in adulthood, and I don't think special needs people should be stigmatised and treated as "different". I agree there should be more support for them, but I'd prefer to see it happen in mainstream schools.

Is n't this flying in the face of popular opinion that such children should be encouraged to integrate more into society rather than being separated?
Just a thought.
