I'm in the process of getting my college education and I want a job for the time being that pays at least 50K a year.

Please don't list blue collar jobs nor things like model or stripper.

I'm looking for some intellectually stimulating position which is based primarily on experience. Knowledgeable answers only please. Thanks.

No, I haven't been living in a fantasy world. Programmers with high school degrees can get payed 50K or more with appropriate experience/skills. I didn't mention my experience so people can think straight and lay out all the employment options within my criteria.

Regarding the male, female thing. You associated it with the wrong connotation. I just added that without much thought. I am more for rights of women and minorities than most Americans. I'm an ethnic minority myself.

I appreciate everyone's answers.

Working for a company like Budweiser, Coke or Pepsi, delivering there products will get you close to $40,000. a year or more depending on sales. Its not something you're going to do while going to school though. You could be a real estate sales person and probably get close to that also depending on where you live and the amount of home and land prices there, since its paid on commission of your sales. Good luck.

The only thing you can get without a college degree that pays around that much is a salesman position. Car salesman, advertising sales for a large company.

You will be hard pressed to find something that pays 50K a year starting without a college degree. But it's possible if you are very smart and creative and willing to work lots and lots of hours.

I think you need to come out of the fantasy world in which you may be residing. No offense, but with only a HS diploma, no one is going to pay you the type of salary you want. And, even with a college education, most jobs don't begin at that kind of money, unless of course you are going into Law or Medicine, Engineering, or something similar. You need to work your way up, not expect the moon the moment you get hired, unless you are fantastically creative and are able to parlay that into something unique. Most people are not able to do that, to be honest. You say you want something intellectually stimulating based on experience, but of course you don't tell us what your experience is. And it matters not whether you are male or female, I think you are going to find disappointment in the working world, as your expectations are unrealistic. And to those posters who cite Bill Gates, he is one out of millions and millions of people. Most people do not become a Bill Gates type of individual.

I'm going to tell you what any employer would tell you. You do not have the work experience to demand that kind of salary. You do not have the education to demand that kind of salary. You do not have the experience in ANY field to demand that kind of salary.
That will be his opinion. Also, you sound like you want a temporary summer job, or something like that. They are not going to pay someone that amount that isn't staying for the long haul.
You will have to start your own business to make that much with your experience.
