I know that only famous people have them but what are they for? and do they have to have them? AND lol are they a good or bad thing?

a publicist is supposed to be an intermediary between a famous person and the media. they answer media questions about the client and his/her work, and seek to drum up positive coverage of the client. famous people don't have to have a publicist. publicists are helpful when they disseminate factual, accurate info but they are a hassle when they try to cover up unflattering info or to mislead the media.
