Whenever I go through places like Tennessee, Georgia, and Alabama, there seems to be a Waffle House or two at every exit. Here in the north, I hardly ever see one. Why are they so popular down there and not up here?

Probably the origin of the chain. Dunkin Donuts is huge in the Northeast, but nowhere else that I'm aware of. It also has its origin here.

But you can't find decent food of Native origin in the Northeast unless you really search or go to the rezes. Most Southern food is of Native or African origin.

Because there aren't enough women with big hair up North to be waitresses. And, because they'd have to take all the George Jones and Lynyrd Skynyrd out of the jukeboxes.

Well maybe because southeners like waffles? Or they don't know how to cook a decent breakfest?
