I didn't realize you weren't supposed to put paper towels in the toilet (stupid me) and had several in there from my puppy's accidents since I didn't want it smelling up the trash. Anyways, my toilet is clogged but I plunged it and had guys plunge it and nothing works...the water goes down but as soon as I flush it it comes back up. I heard something about an auger helping -- would it and how about this link http://www.homedepot.com/prel80/HDUS/EN_US/diy_main/pg_diy.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@1878801456.1171828940@@@@&BV_EngineID=ccdladdkekmegefcgelceffdfgidgki.0&CNTTYPE=PROD_META&CNTKEY=misc/searchResults.jsp&MID=9876&N=2984+3116&pos=n10

You can buy a 'snake' at Home Depot or other hardware store. Your best bet is to go to the store and ask a clerk.
Draino will help, but it takes a while to work, and if you're on a septic tank that's not a good idea. For regular city sewers, Draino is ok.
For future puppy accidents, just shake the poop off the paper towel into the toilet and toss the paper towel itself in the trash.
If you get a high quality puppy food such as Iams, the poop gets very firm and easy to pick up.

You need a tool called a toilet auger. It's shaped like a "J", with the auger part coming out of the small curved end. It will have an offset handle on an about 3' piece of coiled cable sticking out the top end. Place it down into the toilet hole and push the auger in as you twist the handle, then flush. It should work if the paper towels are all that's clogging it. And don't put anything other than regular T.P. down there from now on. If you are in a rural setting and have a septic system the paper towels take forever to decompose.

I just discovered a terrific way to unclog my toilet: liquid laundry detergent.

First I used a plunger or a toilet auger to loosen up the clog enough that the water level was going down a little by itself... sounds like yours is already doing that. Then I poured about a cup or two of liquid laundry detergent straight in. Then I waited as the glob of detergent was pulled down to the trouble area.

In about half an hour, there was a satisfying woosh sound, as it flushed itself!

I've done this four separate times now, so I'm pretty sure it will work for you.

A closet auger, is a snake designed specifically for toilets. It has a hollow metal handle, the end is curved and rubber coated so you do not scratch your toilet. You can get one at any hardware or home improvement store. A plumber will charge you $100 or so to do the job. Drano is not supposed to be used in toilets according to their label.

What you need is a plumber's snake. Just insert the business end into the toilet, feed the snake into the bowl drain, crank away and hope you can clear the towels.

The snake is designed to follow the curves of the trap in the toilet by being flexible.

The link below will give you really good step by step instructions.

Go to the hardware store and see if they have a snake...I don't know the proper term, but that's what it is, a snake that fits down to unplug it.
